Shed Bonanza Warranty Policy
1. Australian Consumer Law
Shed Bonanza's warranty policy does not exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies available to you under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). The following statement is required by the Australian Consumer Law:
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The warranties in this policy are given by Shed Bonanza Pty Ltd (ABN 57 005 971 773) of 419 Dorset Road, Bayswater VIC 3153, phone 1300 795 544. Unless we tell you otherwise in writing, you will bear your own expenses of making a warranty claim, and we or the relevant manufacturer will bear the cost of assessing the claim.
2. Who stands behind your building
Your Shed Bonanza building is backed at three levels: the manufacturers of the products that make it up, the builder or installer who erects it, and Shed Bonanza as your supplier under the Australian Consumer Law.
Shed Bonanza acts primarily as a retailer and supplier of shed, garage, carport and structural products. Except where expressly stated below, Shed Bonanza does not manufacture the products supplied. Warranties for many components are therefore provided by the relevant manufacturer.
Nothing in this section limits your rights against Shed Bonanza as the supplier under the Australian Consumer Law.
3. Manufacturer warranties
(a) Garden sheds (third-party manufactured, Australian made)
Garden sheds supplied by Shed Bonanza are manufactured by an Australian third-party manufacturer. That manufacturer warrants:
- All workmanship of its products; and
- Pre-painted coloured and zinc steel sheeting to be resistant to flaking, peeling, excessive fading or perforation for a period of 15 years, subject to the manufacturer's terms, conditions and environmental limitations.
Warranty coverage is subject to correct installation, normal use, and compliance with the manufacturer's purchasing and installation conditions.
(b) Steel products
Steel used in Shed Bonanza products including sheds, carports, barns and larger structures supplied by our third party steel providers is covered by the relevant Product Performance Warranty. This warranty incorporates performance and corrosion protection consistent with COLORBOND® steel and ZINCALUME® steel warranties, subject to site conditions, proximity to marine or industrial environments, maintenance, and correct use.
For COLORBOND® steel and ZINCALUME® steel, BlueScope Steel offers a warranty against corrosion to perforation by weathering in the natural elements of up to 20 years from the date of installation for typical shed and garage applications. Longer periods may be available for certain products and applications under BlueScope's published warranty terms. The warranty period applying to your project is the period stated in the BlueScope warranty issued for your order.
These are maximum periods and depend on your site and installation. Shorter periods apply in marine, industrial and other severe environments. BlueScope warranty cover generally applies to the steel materials only, may be assessed on a pro rata basis, and does not cover the labour cost of removal or reinstallation. Conditions include correct installation, use of compatible fasteners complying with AS 3566, and regular washing of areas not rinsed by rain. The owner applies for the BlueScope warranty online at warranties.bluescopesteel.com.au within 12 months of installation.
The full BlueScope Steel warranty terms apply and prevail in relation to steel performance and coatings. The name of the steel supplier for your order, and a copy or link to the applicable supplier warranty terms, will be provided with your order documents.
(c) Roller doors
Roller doors supplied by Shed Bonanza are manufactured by a third-party door manufacturer, who will be identified in your order documents. The door manufacturer's warranty is typically 12 months and typically excludes salt corrosion, damage from environmental conditions, accidents, fair wear and tear, and failure to properly install, use or maintain the door, including the manufacturer's recommended washing and servicing schedule. The door manufacturer's warranty terms apply and prevail in relation to doors. The steel sheeting warranty periods in section 3(b) do not apply to roller doors.
(d) Fasteners and accessories
Fasteners supplied with Shed Bonanza products are selected to comply with AS 3566 corrosion classes appropriate to the product and are supplied subject to the fastener manufacturer's terms. Fasteners and minor accessories do not carry the long term sheeting warranty periods in section 3(b). Using non-compliant or incompatible fasteners, or fasteners not supplied or specified by Shed Bonanza, may void the BlueScope steel warranty.
(e) Windows, glass sliding doors and personal access doors
Windows, glass sliding doors, other glazed doors and personal access doors (PA doors) supplied by Shed Bonanza are manufactured by third-party manufacturers, who will be identified in your order documents. These products are covered by the relevant manufacturer's warranty, and the manufacturer's warranty terms apply and prevail in relation to those products. Warranty periods and conditions vary by manufacturer and product. Glass, seals, locks, hinges and moving hardware are typically subject to shorter warranty periods than steel sheeting, and coverage typically excludes damage from incorrect installation, misuse, lack of maintenance and environmental conditions such as salt corrosion. The steel sheeting warranty periods in section 3(b) do not apply to windows or doors.
(f) Roof ventilators
Roof ventilators supplied by Shed Bonanza are manufactured by a third-party manufacturer, who will be identified in your order documents. Roof ventilators are covered by the ventilator manufacturer's warranty, and the manufacturer's warranty terms apply and prevail in relation to those products. Coverage typically excludes damage from incorrect installation, environmental conditions such as salt corrosion, and mechanical damage. The steel sheeting warranty periods in section 3(b) do not apply to roof ventilators.
(g) Door motors and automation
Automatic door openers, motors, remotes and related automation accessories supplied by Shed Bonanza are manufactured by third-party manufacturers, who will be identified in your order documents. These products are covered by the opener manufacturer's warranty. Warranty periods vary by model and are stated in the documentation supplied with the product. Coverage typically requires installation and use in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, and typically excludes batteries, damage from incorrect installation, power surges, water ingress and misuse. The steel sheeting warranty periods in section 3(b) do not apply to motors or automation products.
4. The Shed Bonanza 7 Year Component Warranty
Shed Bonanza manufactures limited proprietary components, including Apex Brackets, Footing Brackets, Stemplates and other selected structural brackets, manufactured using Australian steel.
These components are covered by a 7 year Product Performance Warranty, commencing from the date of delivery, against defects in materials and workmanship when used as intended and installed in accordance with Shed Bonanza guidelines.
To make a claim under this warranty, follow the process in section 9. If your claim is accepted, Shed Bonanza will repair or replace the component. This warranty is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
5. Installation services and responsibility
Shed Bonanza does not carry out installation works unless expressly stated in writing.
Where installation services are arranged, they are performed by independent third-party contractors who are engaged directly by the customer. Any installation agreement is a separate contract strictly between the customer and the installer.
The installer is solely responsible for:
- The quality and workmanship of the installation;
- Compliance with all applicable building codes, regulations and standards; and
- Any warranties or statutory obligations arising from the installation works.
Where a customer engages one of Shed Bonanza's registered building partners, the installation works may be covered by the applicable statutory builder's warranty and domestic building insurance, subject to state-based legislation. The installer or builder provides this cover. It is separate from the warranties Shed Bonanza gives in this policy. We recommend building with a registered building partner so this protection applies to your project.
Shed Bonanza is not liable for defects, delays or losses arising from installation works, except to the extent required under the Australian Consumer Law.
6. Engineering and design
Shed Bonanza structures, apart from garden sheds, are certified by independent registered professional engineers who hold professional indemnity insurance. Garden sheds are engineered by their manufacturer to wind class N3 when installed on a concrete slab. The engineer's certification confirms that the structural design complies with the relevant Australian standards for the specified design criteria. Design and certification responsibility rests with the certifying engineer.
Each design is prepared for a specific site based on the wind region, terrain category, topography, soil classification and other site information provided by or on behalf of the customer. The customer is responsible for the accuracy of that information. The engineering certification does not apply if the structure is built on a different site, if the site conditions differ from the design criteria, or if the structure is modified from the certified design.
The certification covers the structure as designed. The performance of concrete slabs, footings and ground conditions depends on the work of the customer's concreter and the site, and is not covered by the design certification or by Shed Bonanza. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
7. Exclusions
To the extent permitted by law, warranties do not cover:
- Normal wear and tear;
- Damage caused by misuse, neglect, impact, vandalism, fire, flooding, cyclonic events or extreme weather beyond design parameters;
- Corrosion due to environmental factors outside the applicable warranty zone;
- Inadequate or non-compliant concrete slabs, footings or ground conditions;
- Failure to maintain the product in accordance with manufacturer guidelines;
- Damage caused by improper storage of the shed kit before installation, including failure to follow the manufacturer's storage and handling recommendations;
- Damage caused by soil, garden beds, vegetation or other materials placed against the shed walls;
- Modifications or repairs carried out without the written approval of the relevant manufacturer or Shed Bonanza (for components Shed Bonanza manufactures).
Access and making good. To enable warranty assessment or warranty works to be carried out, the customer must provide safe and clear access to the structure. To the extent permitted by law, the customer is responsible, at the customer's cost, for the disconnection and reconnection of any electrical, plumbing, gas, solar, data or other services, and for the removal and reinstatement of any fixtures, fittings, linings, insulation, shelving, stored goods or other items attached to or inside the structure, where required to carry out the works. Disconnection and reconnection of services must be performed by appropriately licensed tradespeople. Shed Bonanza is not responsible for these works or their cost.
These exclusions do not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Transfer of warranties. Unless required by law, the warranties in this policy apply to the original purchaser only and are not transferable to subsequent property owners. Manufacturer warranties, including BlueScope steel warranties, are issued to the original owner and are generally not transferable. Statutory warranties that apply to building work run with the building as provided by law. They are given by the relevant registered builder or installer.
8. Delays and consequential loss
Shed Bonanza will use reasonable endeavours to supply products within estimated timeframes. However, Shed Bonanza will not be liable for delays caused by factors beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to weather, material shortages, transport disruptions or industrial action.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shed Bonanza is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit, business interruption or scheduling costs. This does not exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including liability for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee.
Estimated delivery and installation timeframes are estimates only. We recommend confirming delivery before booking trades or making related commitments.
9. Registering and claiming
BlueScope steel warranty registration. The owner applies for the BlueScope steel warranty directly with BlueScope, online at warranties.bluescopesteel.com.au, within 12 months of installation. BlueScope issues the warranty to the owner. BlueScope's application requirements and terms apply.
BlueScope steel warranty claims. Claims under the BlueScope steel warranty are lodged directly with BlueScope, online at warranties.bluescopesteel.com.au.
Lodging any other warranty or support claim. For roller doors, windows and other doors, Shed Bonanza components, missing or damaged deliveries and any other issue, complete Shed Bonanza's Support / Warranty Claim Form online and provide all relevant information, including:
- Proof of purchase;
- A clear description of the issue; and
- Photographs or other evidence of any alleged defect or problem.
Assessment and referral. Shed Bonanza will review the information provided and, where appropriate:
- Assist the customer with the claim;
- Refer the customer to the relevant manufacturer or supplier warranty process; or
- Direct the customer to the appropriate third party, including the installer, where the issue relates to installation workmanship.
Shed Bonanza will endeavour to assess and evaluate warranty claims within 28 business days of receiving a complete claim, including all required information and evidence. Where a claim depends on a manufacturer's or supplier's assessment, that assessment timeframe is outside Shed Bonanza's control.
Failure to provide sufficient information may delay the assessment process but does not limit any rights the customer may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
10. Governing law
This Warranty is governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
