Garaports & Sideports
An enclosed garage with a carport roof in front, or a sideport down the side. Some people call that an awning. Lock up what needs locking up, and park under cover.
Four ways to do it
One locked, one open. Pick the split.
Nearly every garaport and sideport we sell is one of these four. Find yours and we start from there.

What customers say
Word travels between sheds.
Extremely happy with the service from Shed Bonanza and all their staff from start to finish, with the supply and installation of our garage.
Great service, very attentive. They organised all design work and paperwork to present to our design committee, then the local council planning department.
We wanted quality, and being able to visit the Bayswater showroom and see the displays made the decision easy.
FAQ
Garaports & Sideports: your questions
Cannot see yours? Ask us when you request a quote, or just call. You will get a real answer from someone who has done it before.
What is the difference between a garaport and a carport?
A carport is open on all sides. A garaport is an enclosed garage with a carport roof in front of it, so you get lock-up storage and covered parking in the one structure, under one roof.
What is a sideport, or an awning?
The same thing, two names. A sideport is a roof on posts down the side of a garage, with no walls under it. It gives covered space beside the garage for a car, a trailer, a boat or the barbecue. A garaport is the same idea in front of the garage, and you can have both.
Is a garaport the same as a carport with a garage door?
Close, and people search for it that way. A carport with a garage door is a carport with a door on the front and usually open sides. A garaport is a proper enclosed garage, walls and all, with a carport roof in front of it. If you want the whole thing lockable, look at our garages. If you want part locked up and part open, a garaport is what you mean.
How big should it be?
Start with what goes in each half. The garage is sized like any garage: a single is around 3.5 metres wide, a double around 6 to 7. The garaport is sized to what parks under it, and height matters more than width if that is a caravan or a boat. Put your best guess in the quote form and we will size it properly with you.
Do I need a permit for a garaport?
Almost always, and the rules vary between councils. We can assist you through the building permit process. We are not the permit authority, but our permit team deals with councils, title searches and building surveyors every working day, and we bring decades of experience and knowledge to it. If you would rather handle the permit yourself, that is your call.
Can I close in the garaport later?
Often yes, depending on how it is engineered. Tell us at quote stage that you might want to and we will design with it in mind, because a garaport built to stay open and one built to take walls later are different structures.
What is included in the kit?
Everything above the ground: the steel frame engineered for your site, the roof and wall sheeting, gutters, downpipes and flashings in your colour, the roller door, PA door and windows you chose, every bolt and bracket, and the engineering drawings and certificate made for your site and your job, with the plans for the permit. The slab and the labour to put it up are separate, and we can refer builders and concreters for both.
What does a garaport cost?
It depends on the size of each half, the roof style, the doors, the height of the garaport, and whether you build it yourself or have it built. Two garaports the same footprint can be quite different jobs, which is why we quote rather than print a list. Tell us what goes in each half and your tailored quote comes back within one working day, with no obligation.
Can I build it myself?
Yes. Plenty of our customers do, and plenty would rather not. We can arrange a registered builder we have worked with for years to take on the whole build, and a concreter for the slab. If you are an owner-builder, we can introduce builders and installers we have worked with for years. You engage them directly, so you stay in control.
